In 1976, Phil Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, California. He was transferred to Roselle, New Jersey quickly. At a really young age of 8 years old, his grandfather introduced him poker and tutored him the Five-Card Stud.
But it didn’t work. At the age of sixteen, he started to play backroom games for actual money. 2 years later, he had a $50 ID from a guy in his profession at telemarketing naming Jerome Graham. In Atlantic City, he plays quite a lot at live tables.
He departed fifth place in $2k No-Limit Texas Hold’em. He received his 1st World Series Of Poker bracelet at the $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha. In this event, he played with other poker legends such as Phil Hellmuth, Amarillo Slim Preston and David "Devilfish" Ulliott. From there, the Phil Phil legend was born.
He got 3 more WSOP bracelets in the year 2002. He got these bracelets from three different games as well: S.H.O.E., Stud Hi-Lo and Seven-Card Stud, tying Hellmuth and Ted Forrest to get the most wins in a single season.
Ivey took away his fifth bracelet in a Pot-Limit Omaha event in 2005. Just a year after, he finish second in an Omaha Hi-Lo event, then exited at 3rd place in the $50K H.O.R.S.E event where he cashed in a remarkable $800,000.00.
This shows that being an expert poker player doesn’t take effect with the age you've got. Instead, how you play the game and just how you generate your strategy on conquering other competitors.
